A Saeco Coffee Soirée

The coffee remained hot (there was only 1 gorgeous baby in the room to distract us) while a roomful of ladies compared notes in business, Mama life and everything in between.

On this gorgeous Fall morning, as September came to a close, I had the pleasure of hosting a Saeco coffee soirée where we sipped lattes, sat down for lunch and even took a few moments to meditate with a roomful of inspiring women in the middle of the work week.

There is something powerful in bringing together a group of like-minded women and giving them the opportunity to slow down, share thoughts, ideas and simply connect.  Despite the fact that we were on a time constraint (it was indeed the middle of the work day), we covered a lot of ground and learned some new tricks on the use of essential oils and the power of meditation.

Our lunch speaker was the amazing and always inspiring Christine Russell from 889 Yoga.  She guided us through 3 simple and short meditations that you can basically bring on the road with you throughout the day.  I have found these techniques incredibly beneficial amidst the daily hustle.  When you bounce from early mornings with children, drop offs, a full work day, pickups, extracurricular, city traffic, an obsession with your iPhone and the responsibility of feeding, clothing and bathing your offspring things can get a tad overwhelming (some days incredibly).  This was one thing that everyone around the table agreed on. Taking a time-out to close your eyes and center yourself can be a powerful tool to “bring yourself back” as Christine said.  I encourage you to try this next time you feel as though the walls are closing in and you want to bang your head against them out of frustration (I’m not alone here am I?).  Close your eyes and repeat the mantra Peace. Begins. With. Me. (while simultaneously tapping your thumb to each of your fingers). When our mid week soirée came to a close I definitely felt empowered from the new knowledge gained and the connections that were made.

Thank you to Saeco for sponsoring this wonderful event, to Salt & Pepper for the fresh and delicious Italian inspired lunch and the stylish Ashley Davidson for making everything look so damn gorgeous!
