A Family Weekend In Mont Tremblant

Mont Tremblant is undoubtably gorgeous and a wonderful place for a family getaway that requires minimal planning ahead of time. First of all, there is something for every style of budget. If you look beyond the fast food and line ups for the activities, there are some unique gems and the kids will love all that has been set up in the village with them in mind. Here are some of our highlights:

Play In The Pedestrian Village

The pedestrian village of Mont Tremblant is absolutely the highlight of the adventure for the kids. Nestled on the side of the mountain the village is filled with little shops and restaurants, parks, a splash pad and of course an abundance of kid focused activities. The adrenaline style activities for kids include a Luge down the mountain, an elevated obstacle course and a bungee trampoline. These activities definitely knock the socks off of the munchkins.

Take A Boat Cruise

It’s always a treat to experience a location from the perspective of the water. The hour long cruise up and down Lac Tremblant was a lovely escape from the village and they served cocktails and snacks while we took in the gorgeous surroundings.

Rent Bicycles

The active portion of travel is a big one for our family. The rental shop in the village has something for everyone. Whether you are in need of bicycles, tandems, chariots or baby seats they will set you up so you can go exploring the scenic trails.

Ride The Gondola

A ride on the gondola is a great little break for the kiddos and a fabulous way to catch the beautiful panoramic views of this mountainside village.

Relax & Rejuvenate At The Scandinave Spa

If you can snag a getaway to this sweet oasis you are definitely in for a treat. They have a silence policy that is so incredibly worth zipping your lip for. The sensation of the cold and hot pools, relaxation zones and dip in the racing river is enough to totally zen you out. My husband and I are fussy about our massages and we were 2 for 2 in this couples massage. We perched by an outdoor fireplace at the end of this magnificent hour and a half and enjoyed a glass of wine and a delicious baguette.

Go For A Run

If you are a runner, this is your haven. Surrounded by beautiful wooded areas, water and hilly trails you will get your groove on for sure.

Hit The Beach In Old Town

The beach in the new village of Mont Tremblant is fantastic for families and peppered with activities amidst the tourist hustle and bustle. If you can drive 10-15 minutes out and go to the Old Town Village there is a sweet little beachfront (half sand, half grass) where the sunset was amazing and the kids could jump off the wall into the water. Brilliant.

Play By The Pool At The Fairmont

We stayed at The Fairmont which was perfectly suitable for our little family. The pool was definitely the highlight for the kids and a great simple escape from the village. There are both indoor and outdoor swimming options and the aqua circuit includes a swimming pool, warm tub, cold plunge and hot tub. They serve lunch and snacks on the terrace which makes it a good place to perch for part of your day.

Experience The Local Restaurants

Being a foodie, I initially found it difficult to have a true culinary experience in the village of Mont Tremblant. Once I looked beyond all of the grill house style family restaurants and mediocre pizza places there were a few mentionable moments. When I go to Quebec, it’s a must that I have a poutine and some fondue. They were both easy to find in the village and definitely satisfied my craving. We had a great steak dinner on the terrace of La Forge which overlooks the village. The French Onion soup was something to talk about and there were a few decent wines on their list. My husband and I escaped for a romantic dinner to the restaurant at La Quintessence. The food was extraordinary and the lakeside terrace offered a breathtaking view. This restaurant is also kid friendly so if you can’t escape the kiddos on this vacation just book an early dinner and bring them along.
