31 Things To Do In October

  1. Treat yourself to a manicure and a glass of gorgeous red wine at Her Majesty’s Pleasure.
  2. Hire a sitter and do Nuit Blanche on your bike.
  3. Go Apple Picking at Chudleigh’s.
  4. Bake an Apple Crumble.
  5. Indulge in some local late season produce at The Brickworks Farmer’s Market on a Saturday and let your kids roam The Children’s Garden.
  6. Buy Halloween costumes.
  7. Venture out to Prince Edward County for their annual Pumpkin Festival.
  8. Treat yourself to a new outfit from the new COS store on Bloor Street (finally in Toronto!).
  9. Go see the Fall colours at your favourite urban park (I’m a sucker for Trinity Bellwoods and High Park).
  10. Refresh your makeup bag at Sephora or Holt Renfrew.
  11. Visit a Naturopath to get on top of your health and wellness for the winter.  Check out Innate Wellness.
  12. Get your Thanksgiving menu squared away.
  13. Plan your winter getaway.
  14. Attend the Night Of Dead Parade at Dufferin Grove Park (Saturday October 24 4-8pm).
  15. Go through your children’s winter gear and see what they need for the season ahead.  I was late on this last year and the pickings were SLIM.
  16. Ride your bike (it’s going to get icy before we know it).
  17. Visit your favourite book store and find yourself a few good reads.
  18. Snuggle up with a cup of tea from The Detox Market.
  19. Dig out your crockpot and cook some chilli.
  20. Make mulled wine and have your girlfriends over to enjoy it.
  21. Book a date night and try the tasting menu at Alo.
  22. Carve a pumpkin.
  23. Go to your local florist for a fall arrangement or head down to Crown Flora and let the guys there knock your socks off with their fresh flowers and terraniums.
  24. Visit a neighbourhood you don’t usually venture to.  It can feel like a mini holiday.
  25. Watch It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown with popcorn and the whole family.
  26. Light a pumpkin spiced candle in the house.
  27. Roam through Kensington Market for the last Pedestrian Sunday (October 25).
  28. Look through all the photos you snapped this year and start developing a few of your favourites (old school).
  29. Toast your pumpkin seeds
  30. Let the girls at Gee Beauty take care of your skin … book a facial.
  31. Use the fallen leaves to do a craft with your little ones
